The Lanphier Observatory
Public Stargazing and Constellation Lessons
Summer 2020 – ALL EVENT DATES CANCELLED
Due to the current COVID-19/Coronavirus Pandemic, all Public Stargazing and Constellation Lessons for the summer have been canceled. The health and well being of our guests and students is our utmost concern. Out of an abundance of caution and due to the difficulty in ensuring a safe gathering space and shared telescope usage we regret that our observatory will remain closed throughout the summer.
We look forward to seeing everyone in the summer of 2021 and appreciate your understanding regarding this difficult decision.

Visitors may park in any Leelanau School lot and walk down the scenic boardwalk, across the Crystal River, to the Lanphier Observatory or adventurous types may walk in from the beach. The Lanphier Observatory is easily visible to passersby, being tucked just between the Lake Michigan shore and the trees.
